Annie Lederman, a teenage athlete who competed in the Junior Olympics, quit her sport after suffering an injury to her foot from an accident that was caused by a drunk driver. She then attended an alternative high school for juvenile delinquents, where she was raped sexually by a male school teacher. Annie Lederman was one of the female students that testified during the trial following the incident. She became friendly with some of her students who were involved with illegal activity, including drug-related sales. Annie Lederman completed high school at the age of seventeen. Then she was able to spend the entire year following doing voluntary work. In the beginning, she was in Hawaii teaching dolphins and then at Central America working for nonprofit groups that aid youth who are struggling.

Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27 in 1976. He was born in the southern part of California. He was a student at Huntington Beach High School and was a top basketball and football player. Gonzalez excelled in both activities at University of California, Berkeley. He was instrumental in leading the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he beat the record of the school bowl with nine receptions. The following year, Gonzalez helped lead the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. After graduation from high school Gonzalez was selected in the 1997 NFL Draft.
